Frequently asked questions
What is dividend yield?
Dividend yield is the annual dividend per share divided by the share price. Here it is calculated from the annual dividend EODHD records and the latest closing price. It moves with the price and is not a promise from the company.
What is the ex-dividend date?
It is the first day the share trades without the right to the next dividend. If you own the share before that date, you keep the right to receive it.
What does payout mean?
Payout is the share of earnings per share paid out as a dividend. Above 100% means the dividend is larger than the earnings per share the provider records for the period. Payouts below 5% are treated as unreliable and hidden.
Which large ASX stock has the highest dividend yield today?
On current data, Fortescue (FMG) at 7.6%. A high yield can reflect a fallen share price or a one-off payment, so look at the payout and the history as well.
Do the yields on this page include franking credits?
No. Yields are the cash dividend divided by the share price. Many Australian companies attach franking credits to their dividends, which can change the after-tax return for some investors, but ATLAS does not include them. Check your position with the Australian Taxation Office or a tax professional.
Who regulates the Australian share market?
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) regulates Australia’s financial markets and companies, and the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) operates the main exchange. ATLAS is an information service. It is not a broker and does not give personalised investment advice.
