Investing tools explained with live numbers
Each page below explains one ATLAS tool in plain words: what it does, how the number is calculated, where it stops being reliable, and a worked example using real, current data from the ATLAS stock pages. You can read all of it without an account.
Practice and plan
Learn by doing, build a portfolio and set a goal.
- Stock market simulatorThe ATLAS stock market simulator gives you $10,000 of virtual cash to invest at real market prices, so you can learn how positions behave without risking real money.
- Paper tradingPaper trading means placing practice trades with pretend money. ATLAS does it at real closing prices and shows the dollar risk of each trade before and after you place it.
- Portfolio simulatorA portfolio simulator shows the range of values your holdings could reach, not a single forecast. In ATLAS you enter any stocks and quantities and simulate horizons from one day to 20 years.
- Portfolio builderThe ATLAS portfolio builder turns your rules (how long, how much risk, which markets) into three concrete portfolios you can compare side by side.
- Goals plannerThe goals planner runs a Monte Carlo simulation on your savings plan and tells you the chance of reaching your target, instead of assuming a smooth average return.
- Daily lessonsATLAS lessons are short on purpose: around two minutes each, one idea, one question, and numbers taken from real stocks and, once you sign in, from your own portfolio.
Risk and probability
How likely, how far, how bad: the numbers behind a position.
- Monte Carlo simulationA Monte Carlo simulation runs thousands of random but realistic price paths and reads the outcomes as a distribution, so you see how wide the possibilities are instead of one guess.
- Stock probabilityFor any stock, ATLAS estimates the probability that it closes higher in 21 trading sessions (about one month) and the range where it should land. Most answers sit close to a coin flip, and that is the honest result.
- Recovery probabilityIf you bought above today's price, ATLAS estimates how likely the stock is to get back to your purchase price within a given time, and how long that usually takes.
- Crisis simulatorThe crisis simulator replays famous market falls on the portfolio you hold today and tells you, in dollars, how far it could fall and how long it might take to come back.
- Price alertsATLAS price alerts tell you when something changes in your stocks, and the probability of touching a price level helps you choose levels that will actually fire.
- Track recordATLAS publishes how its past forecasts turned out. In testing on about 148,000 predictions, its 50% range held 50-51% of the time and its 90% range 89-91%.
Understand a company
Value, ownership, insiders and the news around a stock.
- Fair value calculatorATLAS estimates the fair value of a stock from its cash flows and the valuations of comparable companies, and shows a reasonable range and a confidence level next to the price.
- ETF analysisAn ETF is a basket. ATLAS opens the basket and shows its size, cost, yield, returns, its top holdings and its sector and region mix, so you know what you own.
- Insider trades trackerATLAS reads SEC Form 4 filings every day and shows which companies saw their own executives and directors buy or sell shares, keeping only the trades that reflect a decision.
- Executives and shareholdersATLAS shows who runs a company, who the large shareholders are, and what their stakes are worth, so you know whose interests sit behind a stock.
- Customer and supplier mapATLAS maps a company's customers and suppliers from what companies state in their SEC 10-K filings, quoting the sentence and linking to the document.
- Stock newsATLAS gathers the news on your positions and watchlist in one place and puts the price move in context, so you can tell a normal day from news-sized one.
- Earnings and events calendarThe ATLAS agenda shows upcoming earnings, dividends and launches for your companies in a monthly calendar, so you know the dates when a stock is most likely to jump.
Markets
Screen thousands of stocks and read markets by country.
- Stock screenerThe ATLAS stock screener lets you filter US and international companies by valuation and by ATLAS's own probability, starting from ready-made ideas or from your own filters.
- World markets mapATLAS shows the world's stock markets as a heat wall and a map: which exchanges are open, how each moved, and which themes are moving them, going back a year.
- Macro by countryATLAS connects macro indicators and reference assets such as the S&P 500, the dollar and oil to stocks, and lets you simulate a shock to see how much each one tends to move.
Not investment advice. ATLAS estimates come from statistical models and public data; they can be wrong and past results do not predict future ones. Disclaimer
